Dark skies made the crowd of 43183 at Lodewijk XIV's Citadel van Rijsel a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Flandres started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. Starters: van Zeeland - Demathas, Skoczek, Szamotulski - Danielsson, Drapacz, Stridkvist, Jurjani, Csákó - Almandoz, Degdau.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for hetilico. Lineup: Jauh - Riggenmann, Farhofer, Minet - De Champs, Fava, Omeneo, Noël, Herczeg - Agius, Öster.
After 7 minutes, hetilico's Fredrik Öster made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. In the 21st minute, hetilico's Klaus Maria Riggenmann received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The crowd was on its feet in the 27th minute, as Flandres's Erik Danielsson found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equaliser. Some great play up the middle by Flandres led to a chance for Walenty Szamotulski to get the go-ahead goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the crossbar. After a fine move down the middle Szabolcs Csákó nearly gave the home side one up in the 34th minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Flandres, bringing their ball possession to 53 percent, dominated the battle.After 57 minutes, hetilico put themselves up by 1 - 2, as Fredrik Öster finished off a strike from the left with a real cannon placed at the far post. 71 minutes into the game, Anders Stridkvist had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Timmy Jackson. Due to some great work on the right wing Flandres's Emanuel Almandoz was able to even the score in the 81st minute to 2 - 2. In the game's 82nd minute, hetilico's Zac Agius fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Zac Agius for diving. Ryszard Drapacz knocked the corner to Walenty Szamotulski who had the whole net open before him, but his attempt hit the post. The home side put themselves ahead 3 - 2 in the 87th minute after a breakthrough from Walenty Szamotulski, who, unaided, came in out of the right wing hooking the ball over the visitors' keeper. Hansferdinand Farhofer got left behind when Flandres's Emanuel Almandoz made a sudden pull forward in the 88th minute, finishing off with a swift strike. 4-2! After this, Flandres lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Ryszard Drapacz tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving Flandres's Erik Danielsson a chance to knock it in for 5-2. Flandres, bringing their ball possession to 52 percent, dominated the battle.
The most dominating Flandres player was without a doubt Erik Danielsson. Wulfram Degdau was a disappointment, however. The most dominating hetilico player was without a doubt Giovanni Omeneo. However, Maks Jauh made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 5 - 2.
